Well they say a weeks a long time in footy, try telling that to Dylan Edwards and Madge. It didn't take long for NSW's hopes to go up in smoke once Edward's was ruled out. That and the early send off Suaalii gave Madge and NSW no hope against a well drilled Queensland side. Full credit to Qld but NSW didn't give up but changes need to be made especially in the halves with Nicho clearly not up to Origin level unfortunately. I think enough has been written about the game and possible changes but I'll wait until closer to Game 2 before i announce my team.
I had some feedback from one of my followers Big Mark Jans who is a mad Parra fan and he wanted me to pump up the players tyres but I'm sorry Big Fella but I've got gossip so that's what you get. My mail is that the reason Parra haven't recruited anything decent in the hooker's ranks is because Brad Arthur signed Lussick to a long deal was because Brad's son was coming through and he wanted him in the hookers seat long term. The word I'm hearing is that Baz is trying to sign Zac Woolford from Raiders, this would certainly straighten the attack and add some starch to their defence. I'm also hearing that Jason Ryles is the favourite for the job and Big Ryles is regretting taking on the Dragons.
Over to Manly, my spies tell me that senior players are the ones driving the push not to sign coach Seibold. I notice they've signed another Tigers reject who just happens to have the same manager as the coach. As a Manly fan I think this stinks and I'd love to try a Josh Hannay or Dean Young.
How good was last night's game with a mad finish ensuring a Qld win and the series going to a decider. The standard of NRLW is improving every year and I feel as though the ladies play with less structure which makes for a more entertaining game. I'd love to hear your views on NRLW and who your favourite players are. After meeting Teagan Berry I have to say she's my favourite and Tamika Upton from Newcastle is exciting to watch.
Really looking forward to this weeks games and my tips are as follows: Dragons, Rabbits( upset),Warriors, Bronco's, Storm, Sea Eagles(that's loyalty),Bulldogs. Have a great weekend and much love to you all...
One of my followers has suggested I do a Q&A every week so lets get into the first edition of Chewing the Fat with Guru with Klayten Searl...
Chewing the Fat with Guru
Name: Klayten Searl
Age: 40
Occupation: Real Estate Agent Ellem & Co
NRL Team: Illawarra Steelers (St George Illawarra now)
Favourite Player: Current would-be Dylan Edwards. All-time would-be Rod Wishart
Player You’d like to Sledge: Current would be Cam Munster (Absolute grub). All time would be Michael Hancock (Brisbane Broncos winger)
Playing history: I played from under 7’s to under 16’s with the Windang Pelicans, then played under 18’s for the Shellharbour Sharks
Greatest Memory from NRL: Dragons winning the 2010 premiership
2024 Premiers: As much as I hate to say it, I think it will be the Broncos
What’s the one rule you would change? Golden Point should be first team to score a try
What do you think of the NRL bringing in PNG as the 18th team? I think its great for the game. There is no greater support base for the game then the PNG fans, although I think a WA, NT or SA team should be in the game before PNG
Who do you think is the next superstar of the game? Jacob Halangahu, a young second rower for the Dragons in SG Ball (Man of the Match in the Dragons SG Ball grand final win).
